Pamela Whitney understands the level of lifestyle her clients want to live at this point of their lives, as she was, for eleven years, a U.S. Congressional spouse.  Thus, working with her clients, she creates casual, yet elegant homes here in the Desert.

Pamela Whitney has over 20 years of successful business and design experience in Saratoga Springs, NY, Sanibel Island, FL, and Alexandria, VA.  Her homes were featured on charitable home and garden tours.   Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine, Fortune, People Magazine, The Desert Sun, and Desert Magazine.

In 1998, she sold her business and moved to the Coachella Valley to be closer to her daughters and start Whitney Designs, LLC.  A major part of her business has expanded to include the design and fabrication of a vast majority of her clients' furniture, and built-ins, both wood and iron, in Soft Contemporary, and transitional styles such as Spanish Colonial and Tuscany.

Our Design Philosophy

“My design philosophy is simple.  I believe you should be able to rest your feet on the coffee table, sofas should be deep enough for two to take a nap on a lazy afternoon, fabrics should be beautiful, yet durable, so when friends and grandchildren visit everyone is relaxed; it should look smashing, and good design should last at least ten years, or more!” says Pamela Whitney.

Whitney Designs' design philosophy adheres to several principles we deeply believe in.  Whitney Designs bases all its designs on the specific lifestyle and/or investment needs of its clients: our interior designs should reflect not only the personality of their owners but also what their interests and occupations are while taking into account the idiosyncrasies of the Desert landscape and climate.  Because Whitney Designs understands its market (who lives here, why and what they do for fun and/or work), we make sure our designs are both "animal-friendly" and "grandchildren-friendly": we put ourselves in our clients' shoes and try to understand their lifestyle requirements as thoroughly as possible.

Whitney Designs also believes in providing what our clients want within their budget constraints, so we deliver our work on time and on budget and will let you know right away if there is any indication that either target will be compromised.
